Savory Brussels Sprouts Gratin (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Vegetables and Base

01 - 1 pound fresh Brussels sprouts, cleaned and sliced in halves
02 - 2 tablespoons softened butter
03 - 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
04 - Half a cup of heavy cream

→ Seasonings

05 - Half a teaspoon of kosher salt
06 - A sprinkle of ground nutmeg (1/8 teaspoon)
07 - 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
08 - A pinch of black pepper (1/4 teaspoon)

→ Cheese Blend

09 - Half a cup of Parmesan cheese, grated freshly
10 - 1 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese
11 - 1 cup of grated Fontina cheese

# Instructions:

01 - Move the oven rack to the middle, then heat the oven to 375°F.
02 - Trim and slice the Brussels sprouts in half. Shred all the cheeses, mix them together in a bowl, and set the mix aside.
03 - Melt the butter in a pan that’s safe to put in the oven, over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until it smells fragrant but doesn’t brown. Take the pan off the heat; mix in the heavy cream and all seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic powder, nutmeg). Stir in half of the cheese mixture.
04 - Stir the sprouts into the garlic cream sauce in the pan. Spread them out into a single layer and sprinkle the rest of the cheese mix on top. Pop it into the oven and bake for 18-25 minutes, keeping an eye out for soft sprouts and bubbling cheese.

# Notes:

01 - A lovely side dish for those big holiday dinners or fancy home meals.
02 - If your pan isn’t oven-proof, transfer everything to a baking dish before baking.
