Apple Cake with Caramel (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Topping

01 - 6 tbsp cold unsalted butter (85g)
02 - 1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed (100g)
03 - 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
04 - 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
05 - 2 average apples, skin removed and cut into 1/4-inch slices (1.5-2 cups)

→ Cake

06 - 1 1/2 cups plain flour (188g)
07 - 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
08 - 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
09 - 1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
10 - 1/2 tsp salt
11 - 1/2 cup room temp unsalted butter (113g)
12 - 1/2 cup white sugar (100g)
13 - 1/2 cup tightly packed brown sugar (100g)
14 - 2 large eggs at counter temperature
15 - 1 tsp vanilla extract
16 - 6 tbsp full-fat milk at counter temperature (90ml)

# Instructions:

01 - Heat butter with brown sugar till it gets syrupy. Throw in cinnamon and vanilla. Dump into your pie dish and lay apple slices on it. Pop in fridge for a few minutes.
02 - Stir together your dry stuff. Whip butter with both sugars, then mix in eggs and vanilla. Switch between adding dry mix and milk into your butter blend.
03 - Spoon batter over your apple setup. Stick in oven at 350°F for 40-46 minutes, covering with foil around halfway.
04 - Let sit 15 minutes then flip onto your serving dish. Wait until totally cool if you want neat slices.
