Effortless Citrusy Garlic Butter Salmon (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 5 lemon slices
02 - 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped nice and fine
03 - 1 ¼ pounds salmon fillet, with the skin on, divided into 5 pieces
04 - ¾ teaspoon salt
05 - 2 garlic cloves, minced
06 - ½ of 2 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lemon juice
07 - 2 tablespoons lemon juice, separated
08 - 5 tablespoons melted salted butter
09 - ¼ teaspoon black pepper

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to heat up to 190°C (375°F).
02 - In a small dish, mix together the melted butter, garlic, basil, a tablespoon of lemon juice, along with the salt and pepper until it’s smooth.
03 - On a baking tray, lay down a sheet of foil, then top with a smaller piece of parchment paper. Space the salmon fillets out evenly on the paper.
04 - Drizzle half your lemon-basil butter sauce over the fish pieces, keeping the rest. Place one thin lemon slice over each fillet.
05 - Close up the foil and parchment tightly around the salmon. Toss it in the oven, undisturbed, for about 14 to 16 minutes.
06 - Carefully open the foil packet and pour the rest of the sauce over the salmon. Move the parchment down or get rid of it so it doesn’t burn. Pop the salmon under the broiler for 5 to 7 minutes to get a bit golden.
07 - Keep an eye on it during broiling. Once it’s just browned on top, take it out and plate it up. Garnish with extra basil and squeeze some lemon if you’d like.

# Notes:

01 - If buying salmon uncut, grab a center piece for even cooking.
02 - Adding fresh garlic, lemon, and basil gives a big boost to flavor.
03 - A garlic press is great for getting garlic really fine, so it spreads nicely in the sauce.
04 - Store leftover salmon in a sealed container in the fridge for 3 days, or freeze it for 3 months.
05 - Reheat carefully—use a low oven at 150°C (300°F) for 5-7 min or a covered pan over low-medium for 4-5 min.
