Gluten Free Croque Monsieur (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ White Sauce

01 - 2 tbsp butter
02 - 1-1½ tbsp cornstarch
03 - 1/4 tsp salt
04 - 1/8 tsp pepper
05 - 1 cup milk (1% fat or above)

→ Sandwich

06 - 8 pieces gluten-free white bread
07 - Butter for spreading on bread
08 - 4 pieces ham
09 - Dijon mustard
10 - Swiss cheese slices (Gruyere or Emmenthal)

→ Topping

11 - 1/2 cup shredded Swiss or Parmesan cheese

# Instructions:

01 - Melt the butter first, then mix in cornstarch, pepper, and salt until it bubbles. Pour milk in three parts, letting it thicken between each addition.
02 - Smear butter on the outside of each bread slice. Add Dijon on the inside, then put ham and cheese between slices.
03 - Put sandwiches in a pan or griddle and cook until they're golden brown and the cheese starts melting.
04 - Pour white sauce over sandwiches and sprinkle with shredded cheese. Place under broiler until bubbly and browned.
