Velvet Heart Valentine Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cookie Base

01 - 4 tbsp melted unsalted butter
02 - ⅓ cup white sugar, with extra for coating
03 - 1 big egg yolk
04 - ½ tsp pure vanilla
05 - 1 tsp red gel coloring for food

→ Dry Ingredients

06 - ½ cup plus 1 tbsp plain flour
07 - 2 tbsp cocoa powder without sweetener
08 - ¼ tsp baking soda
09 - ⅛ tsp salt, finely ground

→ Topping

10 - 6 Reese's-style white chocolate hearts with peanut butter

# Instructions:

01 - Get your oven hot at 350°F. Put parchment or a silicone mat on a small cookie tray.
02 - Stir together the butter, sugar, yolk from the egg, vanilla and red coloring until smooth.
03 - Drop in the flour, cocoa, soda and salt over the wet mix. Gently fold until just blended.
04 - Split dough into 6 equal bits, shape into balls, coat in sugar and place apart on your tray.
05 - Cook for 10-12 mins until they flatten and crack. Cool 2 mins on the tray before moving to rack.
06 - When cookies cool for 10 mins, push a chocolate heart into each center. Chill 30 mins in fridge to firm up.
