Thanksgiving Pumpkin Sangria (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Pumpkin Syrup

01 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
02 - 1/2 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
03 - 1 tablespoon maple syrup
04 - 1/2 cup water
05 - 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (homemade is best)

→ Sangria

06 - 1 large firm pear, diced
07 - A handful of fresh cranberries (for looks, optional)
08 - 1 large firm apple, diced
09 - 1/4 cup (60ml) orange liqueur (use orange juice if you prefer)
10 - 1/3 cup (80ml) spiced rum (brandy or Captain Morgan work too)
11 - 1 cup (240ml) apple cider
12 - 1 bottle (750ml) dry white wine (like Chardonnay)

# Instructions:

01 - In a medium pot, combine the pumpkin puree, water, syrup, spice, and vanilla. Heat it to a boil, then turn it down to a simmer for roughly 10 minutes until it's thicker. You can blend it with a hand blender if you'd like it smoother.
02 - Pour the wine, cider, rum, and orange liqueur into a big pitcher. Stir everything until it's combined.
03 - Pour the pumpkin syrup you just made into the pitcher, then mix it thoroughly.
04 - Mix in the diced apple, pear, and optional cranberries (they look great but don't leave them too long). Chill the pitcher in the fridge for at least a couple of hours, or even better, leave it overnight.
05 - Give the sangria a good stir before pouring it into glasses. Take a sip and enjoy it!

# Notes:

01 - Pick a cheap white wine that you'd still enjoy drinking.
02 - Homemade pumpkin puree can bring out the best flavors.
03 - Don't have orange liqueur? Use fresh-squeezed orange juice instead.
04 - Fresh-made apple cider can really level up the taste.
