In a medium pot, combine the pumpkin puree, water, syrup, spice, and vanilla. Heat it to a boil, then turn it down to a simmer for roughly 10 minutes until it's thicker. You can blend it with a hand blender if you'd like it smoother.

Pour the wine, cider, rum, and orange liqueur into a big pitcher. Stir everything until it's combined.

Pour the pumpkin syrup you just made into the pitcher, then mix it thoroughly.

Mix in the diced apple, pear, and optional cranberries (they look great but don't leave them too long). Chill the pitcher in the fridge for at least a couple of hours, or even better, leave it overnight.

Give the sangria a good stir before pouring it into glasses. Take a sip and enjoy it!
