Puff Pastry Apple Treat (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Pastry and Apples

01 - One puff pastry sheet (around 270g, ideally made with butter)
02 - 6 small firm apples (use a tart variety for best results)

→ Stuffing

03 - 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
04 - 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
05 - 6 generous spoonfuls of chocolate hazelnut spread or chunks of milk chocolate/chips

→ Finishing and Topping

06 - 1 egg, beaten
07 - 1 tbsp of water or milk
08 - Icing sugar for sprinkling
09 - Whipped cream for serving, optional

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover a baking tray with parchment paper.
02 - Slice the puff pastry into 6 squares (12x12 cm). If you'd like a decorative touch, trim a bit off and shape it into leaves. Refrigerate the pastry pieces until you're ready to use them.
03 - Peel each apple and use a knife and teaspoon to remove the core, being careful to keep the bottom intact so it can hold the filling.
04 - Fill the hollow centers of the apples with a mix of walnuts and chocolate spread or chocolate chunks. Pack more walnuts on top to fill any gaps.
05 - Place an apple in the center of each pastry square. Sprinkle on some cinnamon, then fold the pastry around the apple, pinching it closed at the top. If needed, leave small holes for steam to escape. Lay the wrapped apples onto the prepared tray.
06 - If you're using pastry leaves, attach them to the apples now. Beat the egg with the milk or water, then brush the mixture over the pastry for a nice finish.
07 - Pop the tray into the oven and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the pastries turn a lovely golden color.
08 - Let the pastries sit for 5 minutes as they cool. Sprinkle icing sugar on top and serve with some whipped cream if you like. Enjoy!

# Notes:

01 - Keep the puff pastry cold while prepping the apples to make it easier to handle and avoid it sticking.
